MY ALEXANDER TEACHING EXPERIENCE

Teaching the Alexander Technique for the last 25 years, I have enjoyed many venues for transmitting this work. I have been Senior Faculty at The American Center for the Alexander Technique (www.acatnyc.org) in New York City since 1984 and Director of Teacher Certification there from 2001-2008. I have been on the faculties of The Juilliard School, Sarah Lawrence College, The Diller Quaille School of Music, and The New School. I have presented for The Arthritis Foundation since 2001, and teach both at Spine Options, a back rehabilitation and physical therapy facility in White Plains (www.spineoptions.org), and at Greenwich Hospital’s Center for Integrative Medicine.

Two years ago, I was certified in The Art of Breathing (theartofbreathing.org) by Jessica Wolf. Easeful and coordinated breathing has been an interest for many years and I have been successful in helping people breathe, speak, and sing with less strain.

Yoga is a longtime practice of mine and the Alexander Technique has much to offer yoga students in the realm of injury prevention and enhancing progress. On occasion I give yoga-based sequences to Alexander students who wish to develop more strength and flexibility.

I have had a full and diverse private practice since certifying in 1983. I teach in Tappan, (Rockland County); Stratford, Connecticut; and in Manhattan. I also give house calls in Northern New Jersey, Rockland County, Fairfield County, and in New York City.
